Weather Resistant Steel

Due to its main features, Corten is a top ranking material among steels, characterized by alloy elements (mostly Copper, Nickel, Chrome and Phosphor), which provide this steel with high stress resistance and high resistance to atmospheric corrosion (5 to 8 times more than that of a standard carbon steel). The name, COR-TEN, derives from its main characteristics: CORrosion resistance – TENsile strength The most well-known Corten types are: Corten A: commonly referred to as “phosphorus steel”, element that mostly helps the protective oxidation; it is commonly used for architectural applications. Corten B: it is used for high stress structures; it can be supplied with impact test at low temperature. Uses include: Smoke exhaust tubing, smokestacks, containers, bridges, furnishing, curtain wall, guard-rails.
